Fund Raising

Rejection In the last couple years a church to which I am a member took on a building project of buiding a new beautiful church. It needed funding for a huge number of finishing touches and still is in need of much more and now is saddled with a mortgage triple what was anticipated. In the past I have done alot of fund raising so I felt a real urgency to research and see what I could come up with to help out. I produced a letter to our pastor and expressed my vision and was told to go ahead to see what I could come up with. Many people I spoke with were on board and thought it was a great idea as my vision included small children right up to the widower who was quite limited in either income or physical abilities. I worked many hours to put all my research together told the pastor I was ready to present to the board members of our church. I waited through the spring , then came summer so I thought maybe well fall was coming so that wold probable be when we could get started. Fall turned into winter then Christmas. I heard numerous members call and inquire when I was going to start fund raising. I told them I was waiting for the board to give me an appointment to give the ok. Waiting so long I finally called the pastor and he said the board had decided not to go with fund raising cause they thought it would be too much for our congregation to handle. I asked why I was not given the courtesy of at least a call. I had no reply to that. It really makes me wonder where the vision went. We try to teach our children to work hard nothing is free then turn around in our churches and say is too hard just open your pocket books and pay. My fund raising was to start at the grass roots to involve, not just the church members but also to community . We have many opportunities to share with the community and show who we are and that we really are a church that cares. I seen no vision in our board to deny even a meeting to show my ideas. This shut the door on all kinds of opportunity not only to church members but to our community that we will build on our own and not include anyone else. I felt shunned as well as an out cast not even to have had the courtesy of an explanation. If our church wants to grow it must change the people not the name of the church. It is people who attract people and the spirit not the production or show you put on. We need to get back to the vision of a church that cares and let God take care of the details. In love and faith churches let your people participate and express there ideas . You may never know Gods plan if you don,t let go and let God.

Non Francais

Seen the ads with the french for Canada protesting that it could limit the volunteers for 2010 because it is not in both English and french. Well the last time I checked this was Canada and English is a universal language. It does not always have to be about the French. Just give it a rest will you. Why do yous always have to be cause havoc. A little co-operation goes a long way. If you take a good look at Canada the french language is not always considered a second language. I am of French Canadian back ground as well as Native and at times ashamed of how secular and isolated this two groups insist on making themselves. Stand up and be part of Canada you don,t need everything in two languages. Do you have to act so childish and throw a temper tantrum to get your way all the time. Grow up, stop making excuse why the french can,t volunteer . If you really wanted to volunteer like so many others from other countries are doing you would do it without all the fuss. Other countries are not asking to have things done in their language and wounldn,t even consider it. The games are already over done and over spent why add fire to the flame. GET A LIFE THIS IS CANADA . MULTI CULTURE. ENGLISH IS NATIONAL.

Native Land

My mother was telling a little story about a road trip that she took to the interior of BC. While there she came upon a native fellow riding a horse. This fellow was all dressed up as was his horse all decked out . My mother stopped along the highway to asked if she might take his picture which he kindly obliged. He started backing up right into the middle of the road and stretched out his arms and declared see all this land. It all belongs to me and my ancestors, Well I have a little problem with that as it is my belief is that we in Canada would not have half the problems our government's have created by acknowledging this idiotic notion in the first place. First of all if you live in Canada you are Canadian, not native, not French, not Indo Canadian or European but Canadian. I don,t think when God created earth that he made any agreements with any one cultural that this land was designated to anyone . Rather it was for every ones pleasure. Who said that so much of Canada belongs to the Natives!!. It is so embedded into the newer generations of natives that everyone owes them a living because their for fathers were not treated well by the government of Canada. Which this statement I do not disagree it happened but I had no control over what happened a hundred years ago. Well I have news for yous many of my ancestors had a very hard life too where their homes were burned, woman raped and homes pillaged. So does that give me the right to cry foul. NOT. If everyone in Canada were treated equally to education, health system no-one trying to always get something for nothing, would that be a solution, probable not. The free paydays will never end because as far as I can see the native population of Canada will always want more. Yes alot of money has gone out to First Nations individual reservations and their own leaders have miss-used the monies that could have developed industry, tourism and better living condition for their own people. So maybe First Nation Leaders should be held accountable to their own people as to where all their money has been used. I am not saying all first nation are guilty of miss use of funds but there is internal problems as well. I don,t want this nuse around my family for ever and Please tell us what will ever be enough. I have seen beautiful lands now developed take parts of Vancouver that now that it is developed First Nations have decide it all belongs to them. GIVE IT A REST PLEASE. You have no more right to this land then anyone else. Everyone in Canada should be educated and compete for the same jobs as everyone else. Please don,t miss understand but why do I and my children and my grand children and so on have to pay and pay forever for something we had no control over? So if anyone can tell me who told the natives the world belongs to them. I,ve built a pretty nice home and life for myself through many years of hard work and sometimes sacrife too but no matter what I do I still have to pay my taxes till I die. Where is my free education for my children and my free health care and my tax credits. I have seen many reservations in very bad conditions and yes they are in a disgraceful mess but they are not forced to live there. They chose to do so because of the perks and I,ve heard it so often I,m just waiting for my cheque,or waiting for their cerimonial food ( quota of free salmon) or my child gets a free education or I don,t have to pay any tax on that. After awhile I get pretty sick of hearing about it when I have family members struggling just to pay the rent and can not afford teeth so they can even eat . How did this generation of First Nation people earn the right to that. Well there are alot of pensioners who worked years for their checks only to be told they can now pay for their needed glasses, hearing aids or teeth. Nothing is free for them. I may be way off in left field but I,m so sick and tried of every little specialty group sitting with there hands out waiting to see what they can get for free and how much.I am proud to be a Canadian my ancestry is Mohawk, German and French Canadian. Please Stop this train wreck,I just find it very hard to understand how one cultural who's says they believe in conservation and protecting their land can continually rape the ordinary people of this great country and our rights also. There are two sides to every story.

Alaska

First cruise to Alaska. Weather was great except for one day but that was our cruising day up the coast of BC. Sailed out of Vancouver under sunny skies. We had great food and entertainment on board the Ryndam. From Alaska king crab to prime rib to the most awesome desserts. We sampled some of the sculptures made from chocolate on the Chocolate extravaganza night. It was much too sweet for me but really great to see all the different designs. I did indulge in a chocolate covered strawberry or two. The mornings we had coffee and toast delivered to our room. Some morning and afternoons we would get our coffee and a blanket and set out front our room on deck chairs similar to what you seen on the movie Titanic and just watch the shore line as we sailed by. We stopped in Juneau, then on to Ketakan, through Tracy arm to the Glacier which no words can possible describe but awesome wonder of Gods creation more magnificent then any painting more breath taking then anything I,d imagined. God was everywhere you looked. We then sailed on to Skagway and got our land legs for a bit. In the evening we treated our self to an wonderful dinner in the main dinning room which came with beautiful concert concerto's by a small concert band.It was very elegant. After dinner we took in the evening entertainment provided by the ships crew and also a young fellow who did impersonations and some comedy as well. Our friends and us also enjoyed the movie theater on board and watch Benjamin Button starring Brad Pitt. It was quite the movie 2 1/2 hours long but kept us guessing all the twist and turns. We also were treated to popcorn which is a must for a movie , right. Our trip was definitely one to remember. I took over 80 pictures or more all treasures to me . I enjoyed my time immensely. I would recommend this trip to everyone interested in seeing Alaska.

Jon and Kate plus 8

For everyone who watched the show last night Monday May 25 you gotta say it was pretty sad. They are so young to have such huge decision too make. Yes they have alot of material stuff from doing the show but it does not make up for the first few years when your in the planning stages of dating, engagements and getting married. I,m sure they wouldn,t do it over again if they new they where having 6 babies at one time but there is no way you could ask a mother to decide which baby not to deliver. To me it would not have even been a decision. They are all a gift from God and for everything there is a reason and a season. I do know from being from a broken home it is something you deal with the rest of your life. When people say children are resilient that can,t be further from the truth. All children ever want is there own mom and dad to be there for birthdays, celebration and school days etc. I know that when a special holiday comes or an event I would love it to be my mom and dad and it has been over 30 years since my parents were together. I really hope they can get some help and counseling for there marriage. I believe that everything we comes with a choice. If Jon and Kate decide to stay together they can and will be able to do that but it has to be there choice. They have had so much public life and I understand they probable did it to secure monies for the future of the children and themselves. I do see that they seemed to let money inter fer with too much personal life. Who with eight children has a magician and two bouncy rooms for there kids birthday. That is not even in the reality of most white collar folks. Jon and Kate have been given way too much and obviously don,t know how to manage money as for it not to become a three ring circus. Everything has to be to excess. I do love there show and the little ones are darling and I really hope they make a choice to get back to what brought them together in the first place. MAYBE JON AND KATE YOU NEED TOO BACK UP BEFORE YOU GET RUN OVER. Spoken in love I really feel for yous and your family .. Give God a try he will never fail.

Psalms 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his names sake. Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before in the presence of mine enemies: thou anoinst my head with oil, my cup runneth over Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever,

What are you holding onto?

Do you ever have some days when you want to just give up or throw in the towel Ask yourself what am I doing. Well there is an answer. We are to hold on to the promises of God. We are living in very trying times, in a very broken and lost world. Its no wonder people get so discouraged. But 1 Tim. 6:12 says Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life. In all battles we hold onto the fact that good will prevail over evil and one day we will see Jesus face to face. You can be part of this story just by asking and excpting Jesus into your heart and life.To be your guild, your saviour, and have a victorious life. Quote. The trails of earth are small compared to the triumphs of heaven!

Living For Less

1. Stock up on sale items to build your pantry. 2. Be a cherry picker, Ex. shop for a sale at different stores for the best price. 3. Choose fruits and vegetables that are in season. 4. Set time aside to make a grocery list buying items needed to avoid duplicating. 5. Clip and collect coupons to use when items are on sale doubling your sale costs. 6.Shop at thrift stores and cruise garage sales and auxiliaries. 7. Ask yourself if what you are going to buy is a need verses a want If you don,t need it no price is a good price. It will sit in your cupboard and you,ll never use the item, thus a waste of money. 8. You will find after awhile you will know your prices and it will become second nature to know what is a good deal. 9. Rule of thumb is if you stay out of the store you will spend less!!!

Saving money Tips

When shopping stick to a list. Prepare and plan for your meals and stick to the plan. Cut your own veg. sticks for the week and put into snack size storage bags ready for lunches. Keep a pantry of staples on hand for easy quick meals. Buy boxed instant nestle lattes or cappuccinos to put in your lunches to take to work. It is quarter the price of Starbucks or any the leading coffee shops. Never shop when your hungry, try drinking a cup of water before hand or a piece of fruit. When looking for decorator curtain panels, try looking in the shower curtain section, as you can pick up panels for none third the price and looks very classic. The greatest way to save money is to not look at flyer's unless it is your payday, It will always bring you into the store and that is the object of marketing so you,ll usually end up buying something you did not intend on buying. So if its not payday STAY OUT OF THE STORE!!!

Coupons

To my surprise I received and coupon in the mail for a free complimentary product of my choice from Old Dutch formerly Humpty Dumpty. awhile back I sent them a note telling them about the Old Dutch Bold potato chips I discovered while at a visit to my sisters. Unbeknown to me that Old Dutch had bought out Humpty Dumpty Potato Chips. It was always my favorite chips but when I moved to BC I could not get them here. I happened to but a bag of Old Dutch bold which tastes total like the Humpty Dumpty flavour I remembered from my youth. So I sent them an email telling them about the great taste and that it tasted just like the Humpty Dumpty barbecued chips I had always bought back in Ontario when I was younger. They sent me a coupon for a product of my choice for sending them my positive email telling about thier great product and how much I enjoyed it. That is when I found out it had been bought by Old Dutch and that is why after all those years I finally found my Humpty Dumpty Barbecued chips. So if anyone out there craves the greatest chips try Old Dutch bold barbecued chips.Yummy. So you never know how you will be rewarded for a good comment by word of mouth. I know I will totally enjoy my treat. Thank you to Old Dutch promotional coupons.
